Colleton Museum & Gift Shop


The Colleton Museum is located in the c1855 Old Jail, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Colleton Museum features a permanent collection which explores the history of Colleton from prehistoric times to the early 1900s. There is also an on-going exhibit on Animals of the ACE, a natural history display featuring wild animals indigenous to the South Carolina Lowcounty.

The museum features an eclectic assortment of temporary art exhibits, ranging from Carvings by John Lollar (February and March 2003), to Making Room: Abstract Paintings by Danish Artist Pernille Aegidius Dake (April and May 2003), to The 521 All-Stars: A Championship Story of Baseball and Community (February and March 2004), to The Photographs of P. H. Polk (April and May 2004).
