I would like to propose the formation of a Traveling Exhibition Network
of the Carolinas at this year's conference in Charlotte. This is open
to those who are in charge of marketing and/or hosting traveling
exhibitions at their institution. Marketing and promoting traveling
exhibitions can often be an arduous, and expensive task and one in which
building and maintaining networks with other museums is a must. In some
ways, this group would operate in a manner similar to AAM's TEPIC, but
on more of a regional scale.

Goals of this Network would include:

-Develop and maintain a closer network of museum professionals who
oversee their institution's traveling exhibitions program in the
Carolinas.

-Develop new strategies for marketing traveling exhibitions online (via
different websites).

-Brainstorm on how to bring traveling exhibitions to smaller scale
institutions.

-Develop a communication network among all institutions
marketing/hosting traveling exhibitions in the Carolinas.

-Discuss various methods of marketing that are both inexpensive and
efficient.

-Share information on each institution's traveling exhibitions program.

A table will be setup in the exhibitor's hall at the conference in
March. Please plan on coming by and signing up! There is no cost to
join.

Anyone who is interested, please contact me off list at
stalveyn at mailbox.sc.edu. Also, I have set up a group page on flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/tme/ and may soon set up another on
Facebook.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely,
