 The University of South Carolina will feature the following lecture on
Friday, November 7th.  You might find this of interest. 

 

IBM manager to speak Friday on "Architecting Cultural Spaces"

John Tolva, program manager for Cultural Strategy and Programs at IBM,
will present "Architecting Cultural Spaces: The Past, Present, and Many
Futures of Digital Humanities" at 2 p.m. Friday.

The lecture will be held at Lumpkin Auditorium on the top floor of the
Moore School of Business at the Close-Hipp Building. A reception will
follow the talk.

Tolva's work spans the fields of Web design, user-centric solution
design, cultural heritage, and new media. He joined IBM eight years ago
as a producer in the events Webcasting group where he produced the live
Webcasts for the U.S. Open, Ryder Cup, Grammy Awards, Wimbledon, and the
Sydney Olympics. 

Since his work on the award-winning Hermitage Museum project in 1999,
Tolva has primarily been involved in cultural applications of
technology, particularly digitization, content management, and
multimedia design.

Recently he led the team that launched Eternal Egypt Project, a
partnership between IBM and the Egyptian government. 

Tolva holds a master's in information design and technology from the
Georgia Institute of Technology and a master's in English literature
from Washington University.
