PALMCOP Book Repair for Beginners
October 20, 2008 - Greenville
10 am - 3 pm
This workshop will teach attendees to perform simple, economical,
and
preservation-quality repairs .* The sessions will focus on techniques
that (1) are most often needed (2) do not require expensive equipment
and
supplies, and (3) can be performed successfully after a short training
period.
Audience: The workshop is designed for individuals who want to learn
beginning book repair. No prior training is needed.
Cost: The fee is $10, to cover the cost of lunch. Please make checks
payable to PALMCOP and send your checks and lunch selections to
DebbieLee
Landi. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, October 15 and the
form is below. The city of Greenville charges for parking and the
maximum
charge is $4.00. Please note that they only accept cash. Tip: If you
stay
until 4:45 (visit the library or the three museums very nearby), parking
is free!
Location: Meeting Rooms A and B (Ground floor, turn right, pass the cafe
and turn left past the enormous globe)

Time: 10 am until 3 pm including a lunch break
Supplies: Please bring two or three 20th or 21st century books with one
of
the following problems: pages or sections falling out, loose hinges when
textblocks are pulling away from the cover, torn endsheets, and torn
and
damaged spines. We will repair those books during the workshop. Please
also bring a standard desk size pair of scissors. You may want to bring
a
bib or apron to cover your clothes.
*The workshop will not teach techniques for repairing materials that are
special or rare and children's books are not suitable. If you have

1. Apple & Feta Salad
Sliced Granny Smith apples atop a bed of field greens with sunflower
seeds, cherry tomatoes, sprinkled with feta cheese and our house
balsamic
vinaigrette.
2. Cinnamon Curry Tuna Salad Sandwich
Classic comfort with a twist, spiced with a balance of cinnamon and
curry
seasonings...served on a croissant with sliced roma tomatoes and field
greens.
3. Classic Club Sandwich
Sliced turkey, ham, American cheese on multi grain wheat with bacon,
lettuce, and tomato and our homemade honey mustard dressing.
Both sandwiches are served with a choice of either a small house salad
or
tri colored pasta salad. Please let me know your choice. Every lunch
includes a selection from the Dessert Tray and a drink of your choice.
