The Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center will be the site for a very special fundraiser and benefit concert to benefit the Foothills Humane Society. Come join the friends of the Pickens County Museum and the Foothills Humane Society from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 for "Pickin' for the Pets."

Some of the Carolina Upcountry's favorite ol' time and blues performers are joining forces to raise money for this worthy cause. The lineup will include: J. Michael King (4:00 to 4:45), Nick Hallman (4:45 to 5:30), Steve McGaha (5:30 to 6:15), Gregg "Buffalo" Barfield (6:15 to 6:45), Eddie Lee Bolt (6:45 to 7:00), and the Long Mountain Ramblers featuring Dean Watson & Friends (7:00 to 8:00). This is sure to be an evening of great music to benefit a wonderful organization.

This fundraising event invites both music and animal lovers to come together to raise money and supplies for the shelter animals housed at the Society's kennels. The Foothills Humane Society, located at 500 Five Forks Road in Liberty, SC is a non-profit organization chartered for the prevention of cruelty to animals whose mission is to eliminate animal suffering and
overpopulation through education. An animal care center that has been in continuous operation since 1973, Foothills Humane Society provides professional, compassionate care to more than four thousand lost, abused and abandoned animals each year.

You can gain admission to this evening of music with your donation of dry pet foods; old towels and blankets; cleaning supplies (bleach, detergents, paper towels, etc.); pet supplies (shampoo, grooming supplies, feed dishes); clay-type kitty litter; pet toys & treats and, of course, with much needed monetary donations (make checks payable to Foothills Humane Society).

This evening of "Pickin' for the Pets" will enable the Foothills Humane Society to further their mission of protecting the lives of animals while inviting one and all to a rollicking good time. Hotdog plates and a variety of wonderful treats prepared by FHS volunteers will be available, so grab your lawn chair and head on out to enjoy a and enjoy a rare evening at the Hagood Mill. The Hagood Mill is located just 3 miles north of Pickens or 5 ½ miles south of Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy 11 off SC Hwy 178 at 138 Hagood Mill Road.
