"Three Guitars in the Evening Shade"

Hagood Mill concert series continues July 25

The Pickens County Cultural Commission and the Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center are proud to sponsor "Pickin' in the Evening Shade," a series of Fourth Saturday evening concerts at the Hagood Mill. The second concert of the series will take place Saturday evening, July 25 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

You may have heard of the "Three Tenors" of opera fame, but on this coming Saturday prepare yourself for a very special program, "Three Guitars in the Evening Shade", featuring three of the top guitar talents in the upstate of South Carolina.

The featured guitarists for this summer evening concert are "Double Pickin'" Nick Hallman, "Blues Finger Pickin'" Steve McGaha, and "Jelly Roll Chicken pickin'" J. Michael King. Opening up for the featured performers will be Eddie Lee Bolt and Christopher Brotherton with some neat jazz combos on fiddle and plectrum style Dixieland banjo.

Come out, bring your lawn chairs, and sit in the cool of the evening shade to enjoy the smooth guitar renderings of two state heritage award winners and a notable bluesman.

This concert is part of the "Pickin' in the Evening Shade" concerts on the 4th Saturday evenings at historic Hagood Mill each month into the autumn. There is no admission fee for the concert; however, donations for the musicians are appreciated. Upcoming "Evening Shade" concerts will feature traditional music bands ranging from Bluegrass to the Blues... with some surprises in store

The Hagood Mill is located just 3 miles north of Pickens or 5 ½ miles south of Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy 11 off SC Hwy 178 at 138 Hagood Mill Road. Hagood Mill is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 until 4:00, to tour the buildings and grounds and to visit the Mill Site Gift Shop.

For additional information please contact the Hagood Mill at (864) 898-2936 or the Pickens County Museum at (864) 898-5963.
