[Scmusenet] admissions tax?

Good morning!

Our museum will begin charging an admission fee this April.  For various
reasons, it came to our attention that we would need to apply for an
admission tax license and to apply for an exemption to the tax.  DOR said
we're (museums) are considered "places of amusement."  We've never dealt
with anything like this and need your input.

How many of you are required to pay the 5% admission tax to the state?  Are
you exempt and, if so, why?  If you pay the tax, are you also being taxed on
fundraising events where tickets are sold?  And how come we've never heard
of this before?
