FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Columbia, S.C. - There is still space available for the SC Confederate
Relic Room and Military Museum's first-ever summer day camp. Children
will have fun learning military history from the Civil War period
through the 20th century at this week-long "Palmetto Soldiers and
Sailors Camp."
Sessions in this program feature strategy games, crafts, media clips,
guest speakers, surprise activities, and outdoor excursions, with snacks
provided each day. Curator of Education Joe Long stated that "students
will have a great time while increasing their historical knowledge of
South Carolina's martial tradition by participating in educational
activities."
The camp is June 8-12, from 8:30-12:30 daily. The camp is
co-educational and open to ages 8-13. The fee for the entire week of
camp is $100. Contact Joe Long, 803-737-8095, to make reservations.
Founded in 1896, the SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum is
the oldest museum in the Columbia area. The museum focuses on South
Carolina's military history from the Revolutionary War to the current
War on Terror.
