"Six Chickens and a Beer" along with the "Mill Cats" in the Evening Shade"
Hagood Mill concert series continues September 26
The Pickens County Cultural Commission and the Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center are proud to sponsor "Pickin' in the Evening Shade," a series of Fourth Saturday evening concerts at the Hagood Mill. The fourth concert of the series will take place Saturday evening, September 26 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.
Fine Celtic music comes to the "Evening Shade" concerts at Hagood Mill this Saturday. Noted Irish fiddler, Dr. Mike Ellison from Clemson University and his group of Celts, "Six Chickens and a Beer," will provide the lilting and, yes, dynamic melodies from the Emerald Isle.
Opening for Dr. Ellison and his group will be "The Mill Cats" composed of ragtime & blues renderings by Eddie Lee Bolt and Christopher Brotherton. Come out, bring your lawn chairs, and sit in the cool of the evening shade to enjoy the jovial performances of these two very enjoyable bands.
This concert is part of the "Pickin' in the Evening Shade" concerts on the 4th Saturday evenings at historic Hagood Mill each month into the autumn. There is no admission fee for the concert; however, donations for the musicians are appreciated. Upcoming "Evening Shade" concerts will feature traditional music bands ranging from Bluegrass to the Blues... with some surprises in store
The Hagood Mill is located just 3 miles north of Pickens or 5 ½ miles south of Cherokee Foothills Scenic Hwy 11 off SC Hwy 178 at 138 Hagood Mill Road. Hagood Mill is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 until 4:00, to tour the buildings and grounds and to visit the Mill Site Gift Shop.
