Lucy Allen, Marshall Goers, Phil Garrett & Glen Miller in Concert

Hagood Mill's 'First Saturday' in April will also feature the music of
J.C. Owens & Buffalo Barfield

 

 

     The Pickens County Cultural Commission invites one and all for a
free house concert from 12:00 till' 3:00 at the Hagood Mill Historic
Site & Folklife Center Saturday, April 3rd in the Visitor Building. At
1:00, husband & wife duo, Lucy Allen and Marshall Goers will perform a
concert of traditional, original and folk tunes. Lucy is a singer /
songwriter / guitarist and Marshall is great-pickin'
multi-instrumentalist. At 2:00, Goers will team up with Phil Garrett and
Glen Miller (of the "Fine Art Ramblers") for a set of blues, swing and
ragtime. Goers and Garrett perform as the "Dusk Buskers." Opening at
12:00 will be Hagood Mill regulars, SC Folk Heritage Award winning
master fiddler, J.C. Owens and guitarist/singer/entertainer, Gregg
"Buffalo" Barfield. Seating is limited and first come - first served.
...there's nothing like hearing and seeing great musicians and singers
in an intimate, close setting. 

 

     The "spinning" ladies from Fiber Friends will be in the Hagood
Cabin during the afternoon to demonstrate their craft and to introduce
anyone interested to the art of spinning.

 

    The Pickens County Museum of Art & History, including the Hagood
Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center is funded in part by Pickens
County, members and friends of the museum and a grant from the South
Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National
Endowment for the Arts.

 

     The Mill Site is open Wed. through Sat. from 10:00 to 4:00, to tour
the buildings and grounds. Hagood Mill is located three miles north of
Pickens or five miles south of Hwy 11, just off Hwy 178 on Hagood Mill
